For beginners, they are made in Austria, plus the inks come from the similar factory that makes Montblanc and other major brands of fountain pen inks. The novel Monteverde inks behave similarly to Montblanc inks, in terms of dry time, feathering, etc. That is, the inks dry very rapidly, even with a wet nib on Tomoe River paper, plus the feathering along with bleed-through is negligible, even on cheap copy paper.
